Just got back from Cayo Largo on Monday March 11 after one week. We booked our holiday on February 22 for villa Lindamar. When we arrived, they piled us into the buses without asking which resort we were booked into.

When we asked, they said we were all going to the same place - SOL CLUB!!

Wow! When we took a walk over and had a look at Villa Lindamar, we realized just how lucky we were to get the upgrade. Even if the hurricane had NOT hit Lindamar, we would not have liked it at all. It is so gloomy with those A-frame huts. Sol Club was just fantastic.

I don't know how many places were hit by the hurricane, but I know at least Pelicano and the one after LindaMar.

We had a wonderful vacation, it's a beautiful island to escape, just eat, drink, sit under a palapa, walk the beach, read a book or engage in some of the activities.

I'm gald to know you enjoyed your vacation in Cayo Largo!

For your information.... ALL the hotels in Cayo Largo where hit pretty bad by the hurricane including Sol Club, but at this point (4 months later) a lot of efforts has been done to repair first the Sol Club, the Isla del Sur and the Lindamar. As for exemple, The hutts at Lindamar lost their roofs, the beach restaurant of Sol Club was completely destroyed, etc. etc.

I think the choice of hotel is really a matter of taste. Normand and I are supposed to go to the Lindamar from March 25 to 31 and Sol Club for our second week (April 1 to 8). Athough we know that Sol Club is a very nice & confortable hotel with good service, we are a bit disapointed by the fact that the Lindamar might not be ready when we get there. When we go to Cayo Largo, we like also very much the experience of having our own "Robinson Crusoe" type of accomodation, very natural , very down-to-earth. For us this is what Cayo Largo is all about... i.e being as close to nature as possible. By booking one week at Lindamar and one week at Sol Club we really felt like having the best of both worlds... 2 kinds of vacation in one trip!
